Lots to cover, so here we go…..

Thank you to all the parents who picked up a folder on Thursday night. It is great to see different people recording. We are looking for a different parent each week to record so please jump in and help run an age group for the night. All athlete results are now available at https://www.resultshq.com.au/login

Most of our trial athletes have now completed their two trial evenings. It’s time to make a decision to stay or go. If you chose to stay, simply log into your Game Day account and upgrade to a season membership. Of course we'd love to see you stay!

We will now finish on Thurday the 16th December. Due to the wet weather of Nov.

Little Aths Rules are different from school athletics rules. Please note.

  • There are two ways for an athlete to clear the bar in high jump - the “scissors” and the “flop”. The scissor technique is the only technique allowed for athletes in the U9 and 10 age groups. They are not permitted to use the fosbury flop technique. https://lansw.com.au/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/11/High-Jump.pdf

  • Footwear is compulsory for ALL competitors in ALL events.  Running Spikes are optional, but can only be worn by athletes in the U11 age group and above.  Spikes are not allowed for any athletes in the U6 to U10 age groups. Again this is a Little Athletics Australia Ruling.

ZONE MULTI IN BATHURST DECEMBER 19th

What is a Zone Multi? A Multi is an athletics competition where the athlete competes in 5 disciplines. Independent of place, the athlete is awarded points according to times, distances thrown or jumped. These points are added up for each athlete placing them in their age group at the conclusion of the carnival. Clubs from as far as Bilpin, Springwood, Cowra and Canowindra have been invited to compete. We are looking for a strong Bathurst Little Aths Team to compete as we attempt to collect the club trophy at the conclusion of the day.

The events for each age group can be found here. https://westernrangeszone.org/western-ranges-zone-combined-event-bathurst/

Each child is awarded a certificate of competition and entries open tomorrow and close Dec 15th. The entry will be via the above link.  The Carnival will start at 10am and is usually over by lunch time. I encourage members who are around to jump in and have a go competing in our home town and hosting other clubs.

REGIONAL ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Due to the late start for most Centres it has been decided that both zones in our region Western Ranges and Western Plains unfortunately won't be holding a Zone Championship this season. Rather, we will be holding our usual Region Championships at Barden Park, Dubbo on the 5th and 6th of February.

As there will be no Zone Championships held it has been agreed to hold U/7 events at this year’s Region Championships.

This event will be open to all eligible members in our Region via the below process:

  • Each Centre will be sent an Excel file entry form (attached).

  • Centres will be required to nominate their athletes

  • Centres can nominate as many athletes as they like however, athletes in the U7 to U11 age groups can only enter up to 4 events excluding relays. Athletes in the U12 to U17 age groups can enter up to 6 events excluding relays. Multi Class athletes in the U9/U10’s can enter up to 4 events, U11/U12’s up to 5 events and U13/U14 & U15/U17’s up to 6 events.

  • There are NO qualifying standards.

  • All other rules that apply are as per the LANSW Rules of Competition (RoC).

This is the State Championship Qualifying event and entries close Dec 22. Again, I encourage any athletes who wish to compete to ensure they see the committee so we can add you to our excel file.

Many thanks.

Mike Curtin. President on behalf of the Committee.
